Cranford is where the airport stops being the whole story. The old western road runs through it, the park and the river on the north side are genuinely handsome, and five minutes further east the traffic turns into Hounslow and an evening can carry on into London rather than ending in a corridor.

The park, the river and the old road
Cranford Park sits on the north side, with the river Crane through it and the remains of an estate whose house came down long ago. The stable block and the church are still standing and the whole thing is a proper walk rather than a green with a bench on it. On a summer evening it is the best twenty minutes available anywhere inside the boundary.
South of the road it is residential and unremarkable in the best possible way: quiet streets, no through traffic, and nobody paying attention to anybody. The two halves are three minutes apart and most guests never notice the good one exists.
Getting in and out of TW5
The eastern end of the map is the easy end. Hounslow West is twenty two minutes on foot or five by road, Hatton Cross about half an hour on foot, and both put you on a platform running into town until late. By car the central terminals are seven or eight minutes west, the motorway junction a couple more.
Coming the other way, a companion travelling out from the middle of London reaches Cranford faster than almost anywhere else on this map, which is why the arrival window here usually lands at the short end of twenty to forty minutes rather than the long one.
Where guests are staying
Mostly the large buildings strung along the old road at this end, plus a growing number of serviced flats on the streets behind them. The flats are the quiet option and the better one for a long stay: a door that locks, a kitchen nobody uses and no corridor traffic at two in the morning.

People working at the airport who did not want to live beside it. Longer stays in the serviced flats, often a fortnight or more. A steady number of guests who chose this end deliberately because they wanted the evening to have somewhere to go.
It is also the address that suits an early meeting in town the next morning, which is a different kind of evening from a dawn departure and the desk treats it as one.
